BRIDGESTONE Tyre Sales (M) Sdn Bhd donated RM110,820 to the Global Environment Centre (GEC) recently.

The cheque was presented by Bridgestone managing director Takashi Aoki to Global Environment Centre (GEC) director Faizal Parish.

The funds were raised from a series of charity drives through Bridgestone “Make Cars Green” initiatives to help raise public awareness about green motoring and rally support for environmental projects.

The Make Cars Green is an international environmental campaign led by Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) and Bridgestone.

Bridgestone also lent its support to GEC on International Biodiversity Day 2010 by planting 2,000 trees at several sites including Raja Musa Peat Swamp Forest Reserve, Selangor, Kuala Gula Mangrove Forest, Perak and Taman Persekutuan Bukit Kiara.

According to Aoki, they consider the environment to be an integral and important part of all its business activities.

He said they were committed to helping its customers conserve natural resources through continuous product improvement.

Bridgestone has been involved in a series of green campaign events in line with the Make Cars Green campaign.
