In line with the Movement Control Order, made by the Government of Malaysia on 16th March 2020, to prevent and control COVID-19, the Global Environment Centre (GEC) Headquarters Office in Petaling Jaya and branch office in Bestari Jaya, Selangor will be closed starting from March 18, 2020 (Wednesday) until April 28, 2020 (Tuesday) and will re-open on April 29, 2020 (Wednesday). In addition, all planned external travel, meetings and events will be postponed, except when they can be undertaken virtually or online. The goal is to minimize risk of the spread of the COVID-19 for our community and ourselves.

The safety and well-being of our employees, partners and stakeholders is our first priority and will not be compromised, but we also have a responsibility towards ensuring our environmental conservation and rehabilitation efforts are not jeopardized.  Therefore, GEC staff will be working from home, effective March 18, 2020 to maintain communication with stakeholders and continue to support, where possible.  Communication with GEC staff via existing email, WhatsApp or Skype messaging should remain fully functional.

We are working to ensure meetings and selected important tasks are facilitated online and through remote participation. Nevertheless, there might be a delay in project activities as well as responses to communication due to the current restrictions.

We will continue to monitor the situation closely and will be adjusting our policies from time to time to respond to changing circumstances. We would like to thank our community, partners, funders, stakeholders for your support, patience and understanding.
