Sustainable Landscape Management in South Ketapang
Located in South Ketapang, Indonesia, the project is a result of IOI Group’s vision to develop environmental values of South Ketapang by implementing measures and plans to prevent and control fires in IOI’s new developments and adjacent lands, increase forest cover and connectivity while improving socio-economic values by optimizing land use and livelihood of the area.
This project will establish multi-stakeholder partnerships among the local companies, government, communities and civil society for sustainable development and conservation across the area.
Duration: 5 years in stages, with the first 12-month programme launched in October 2018

The long-term goal is to promote sustainable economic growth without negatively affecting the environment. The objectives of this project are as follows: -
- Sub-landscape - Prepare a sustainable landscape management initiative for the “desa” around PT SNA concessions
- Landscape - Develop a shared vision on the sustainable management of the South Ketapang Landscape
- On the 21 November 2019, GEC successfully co-organised a multi-stakeholder workshop in Ketapang District, Indonesia. The workshop was attended by 80 participants from the government, private sectors, donors and local communities to agree on the framework for 750,000 ha landscape management in South West Kalimantan.
