The Global Environment Centre (GEC) Headquarters in Petaling Jaya, Selangor will be closed, starting June 1, 2021 (Tuesday).

Our headquarters in Petaling Jaya, Selangor is closed from June 1, 2021 (Tuesday) until June 14, 2021 (Monday), in line with the Phase 1 of the nationwide lockdown of the social and economic sectors made by the Malaysian government effective June 1, 2021. We are doing our bit to ensure we help flatten the Covid-19 curve.

Our office will only be reopened in accordance with the directive set by the NSC (MKN)/Government. As such, all planned external travel, meetings, field activities, community trainings and events will be postponed or where possible, undertaken virtually or online. The goal is to minimise the risk of the spreading COVID-to our community.  We are currently working with MITI and relevant ministries to determine whether approval for critical environmental monitoring can be conducted.

The safety and well-being of our employees, partners and stakeholders is our top priority and will not be compromised, and at the same time, we have a responsibility to ensure our environmental conservation and rehabilitation efforts are not jeopardised.

Hence, GEC staff are working from home and field offices effective June 1, 2021 to maintain communication with stakeholders and provide support. Our GEC staff remain connected via existing platforms including email, mobile phone, WhatsApp or Skype messaging.

We will ensure meetings and important tasks are facilitated online and through remote participation. Yet we may experience some inevitable delays in project activities as well as responses to communication due to the current restrictions.

We are closely monitoring the situation and will adjust our policies as the need arises. We would like to thank our community, partners, funders, stakeholders for your continued support, patience and understanding.
