Fraud Alert

BEWARE OF SCAMS/FRAUDS IMPLYING ASSOCIATION WITH THE GLOBAL ENVIRONMENT CENTRE
The Global Environment Centre (GEC) has been made aware of various communications, being circulated via e-mail, from Internet web sites, text messages, via regular mail or facsimile or personally approach, falsely stating that they are issued by, or in association with the GEC. These frauds, which may seek to obtain money to raise funds on our behalf, are fraudulent. GEC would like to clarify that we have never authorised anyone or any organisation to sell items or fundraise on our behalf. 

GEC is deeply concerned with the fraudulent incident that has tarnished the organisation image and abuse the trust of GEC supporters. GEC advises that the recipients of solicitations to exercise extreme caution. Financial loss and identity theft could result from the transfer of money or personal information to those issuing such fraudulent communication. Victims of such frauds may also report them to the law enforcement authorities for appropriate action.


FRAUDULENT FUNDRAISING BY SOMEONE CLAIMING TO BE FROM INTI COLLEGE

The INTI International Universities & Colleges has published a post on its Facebook Page about the fraud incident. They have confirmed that the individual is not a representative of INTI, nor he is working for a charitable organisation.  
GEC is deeply concerned with the fraudulent incident that has tarnished the organisation image and abuse the trust of GEC supporters. Should this individual approach you or anyone, please get his details such as name, identification card or photograph and report to us at outreach@gec.org.my for our next course of action.

GEC has informed INTI International Universities & Colleges about an individual (an elderly man) who claims to be a lecturer/ex-lecturer from INTI College who has been approaching companies and the public to sell paper and magnetic bookmarks. He claims that the proceeds from the purchases will all be given to GEC. GEC would like to clarify that we have never authorised anyone to sell items or fundraise on our behalf.

The Global Environment Centre (GEC) has received a few reliable reports early of this year from the public with regards to an unethical individual who deliberately use GEC’s logo and name to purportedly raise funds on our behalf. This individual who claimed to be a lecturer has been approaching public selling magnetic bookmarks using GEC’s brochure. GEC would like to clarify that we have never authorised anyone to sell items or fundraise on our behalf. GEC is deeply concerned with the fraudulent incident that has tarnished the organisation image and abuse the trust of GEC supporters. Should this individual approach you or anyone, please get his details such as name, identification card or photograph and report to us at outreach@gec.org.my for our next course of action.
