The North Selangor Peat Swamp Forest

The North Selangor Peat Swamp Forest covers an area of about 76,000 ha and comprises of the Raja Musa Forest Reserve and the Sg Karang Forest Reserve. It is one of the largest remaining contiguous areas of peat swamp forest in Peninsular Malaysia, and has been identified as s key site for conservation and education of peatland resources.

In Malaysia, the total peatland area is close to 2.5 million ha, of which almost 90% has been logged or degraded. The North Selangor Peat Swamp Forest is one of the largest remaining contiguous areas of peat swamp forest in Peninsular Malaysia, covering an area of approximately 70,000 ha.
