PEATLAND PROGRAMME
POSITION - SENIOR PROGRAMME OFFICER
Duty Station: Pekan, Pahang
Responsibilities:
- Implement and manage a range of existing projects at site level;
- Undertake project activities such as studies, awareness programmes, networking and information exchange;
- Prepare technical and management reports;
- Communicate and working with partner agencies at local level (local government, private sector, Civil Society Organisations, and indigenous people and local community groups);
- Plan and execute community development and empowerment events/programmes;
- Working with partner agencies in Malaysia and overseas;
- Input to development of new projects and activities; and
- Contribute to other elements of the Peatland Programme as appropriate.
Job Requirements:
- Degree in Environmental or Natural Resource Management
- Fluent in English and Malay with good writing skills
- Experience in computer and basic software skills – e.g. Microsoft office
- Experience in management of forest, natural resources, peatland, biodiversity, climate change, and/or plantation issues
- Minimum 5-8 years relevant working experience
- Experience in communication with multi-stakeholder, including indigenous community
- Experience in awareness event organisation and information exchange
- Experience in multidisciplinary teams an advantage
- Willingness to work with indigenous communities
- Willingness to station at Pekan, Pahang

OUTREACH & PARTNERSHIP PROGRAMME
POSITION - OUTREACH OFFICER (DIGITAL MEDIA AND GRAPHIC DESIGN)
Duty Station: Petaling Jaya, Selangor (GEC HQ)
Responsibilities:
- In charge of curating and managing digital-related activities in order to influence and attract target audience, to promote and market GEC merchandise, and indigenous and local community (ILC) products, brands and messaging;
- Organise digital resources for media campaigns, social media and website, story development, publicity and marketing communications;
- Generate digital media content and campaigns that increases GEC’s brand presence and visibility;
- Enhance and maintain and web-related media and resources (including applications);
- Track and analyse campaign results and success rates based on analytics and related key indicators;
- Develop concepts and design work for GEC's collaterals and merchandise; and
- Support information exchange and networking activities of different programmes, including supporting implementation of projects related to digital content management and information exchange.
Job Requirements:
- Degree or diploma in multimedia or digital communications or relevant field.
- Minimum three years relevant working experience.
- Work experience in communications, media and outreach would be an advantage.
- Fluent in English & Bahasa Melayu (written and spoken), preferably with good writing skills; other languages particularly Malaysian vernacular languages (Mandarin and Tamil) would be an advantage.
- High degree of competency in relevant multimedia software and social media applications for updating website and graphic design/image.
- Knowledge of or keen interest in environmental issues.
- Meticulous with an eye for details.
- Experience in information exchange, networking and database.
- Self-motivated and able to work both independently and in team.
- Pleasant personality with good public relations skills.
