North Selangor Peat Swamp Forest Reforestation Programme 2015

The activity is a collaborative effort by  Selangor State Forestry Department,  Global Environment Centre and Friends of North Selangor Peat Swamp Forest. The reforestation programme is supported by HSBC Bank Malaysia Berhad, the European Union, GEF-SGP Project and the Selangor State Government.

The monthly reforestation 2015 activity is an annual activity organised to promote the importance of North Selangor Peat Swamp Forest to the public. This activity is aimed at conserving the various species of peat swamp and restoring the deteriorated area to its former glory, retaining the original characteristics of the peat swamp forest. It promotes environmental awareness and the planting activity is designed to attract different interest groups, including children.

The participation is on a first come, first served basis, limited to 100 participants with 400-600 seedlings for each of the planting session — in one hectare area of the forest reserve. The  activity is sponsored by the organisers/funders; therefore, there will be no imposed costs on the participants.

However, donations of any amount are welcomed for our Forest Care Fund which is established to support our rehabilitation programme. Your donations are tax deductible in Malaysia and you will be helping to support real grassroot environmental initiatives.

To participate, please select your preferred date (as below) and complete the online registration form. If you would like to find out more, please drop us an email at outreach@gec.org.my
